As soon as I met these two crazy guys (Jimmy and Pat) I knew this was the right place for me. Who wouldn’t want to work on a project that’s not corporate driven, but driven by ambition and excitement for something you really believe in? I absolutely love to support the arts, music, and community and as a designer myself, I’m dedicated to getting other designers the recognition they deserve. In the corporate world we spend hours designing a logo, brochure or poster for someone else, but Collar Free is about designing for you. I think sometimes we get so overwhelmed with our work load that we lose the joy in the real art of design. I am a painter and an artist at heart, so I enjoy taking my sketches and ideas and putting them into the computer and then onto a t-shirt to create wearable art. Collar Free gives artists the chance to come together, and make their creations available to people nation-wide.
Right now I’m working with 275 designers across the US and it’s so exciting to see new shirt designs coming in daily. I’m your go-to girl for all questions regarding the shirt template, submission process and design advice, so here are a few tips to help you get started:
- Try a different shirt color. We are getting a lot of designs on black and white shirts… be bold, be daring and get some color in your wardrobe!
- Collage. Some of the most popular shirt designs today have a cool collage, scrapbook feel with different shapes and textures. Take that simple design that you have in the center of the shirt and layer another one behind it and change the color. Maybe move it off-center and add another shape to create a unique design. Check out our online gallery to see some great examples of what’s hot in the market today:
- Don’t forget to create a “web ready” file. This is included in the template and it is the file that will be posted on our website so you can use that space to display your shirt in the most attractive way possible to get those votes!
